Neither strikers, nor gaurdians, nor an ecchi feline will keep Miku from being mine

This has been a fantastic week to be a figure collector.  We’re finally seeing one of the larger and more established companies in Alter get into the Ikki Tousen seen with fantastic results; we’re seeing the birth of “actsta”, the love child of GSC and LiquidStone responsible for a new line of action-PVCs; and Max Factory is putting out a breath-taking Miku Hastune.

EDIT: Just saw the info for Kotobukiya’s 1/6th Asuka go online and I couldn’t wait a week to talk about her.

Oricon Top 10 (07.06.09) - Week 26….25, 24, 23

Well I have been away for a while, as usual it is because of a combination of busyness as well as lazyness lol. My video card also died and had to go purchase another one so that had a little to do with it as well. But I am back, for this week at least. As with before, I missed like 4 weeks lol so here’re the last 4 Oricon charts that I hadn’t posted. One more note, although kind of late and unrelated. For those of you who have not seen Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Go. Watch. It. Now. I saw the midnight screening last week and it was awesome. So awesome that I’m going to watch it again tomorrow in IMAX. Anyway, here are the top 10 singles of the week.

Max Factory 1/8 Yuki Nagato Extravaganza Ver. PVC: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Once in a great while a figure comes along and takes your breath away: Extraveganza Yuki did that for me.  Is she perfect?  No, only Rei is.  But Yuki comes pretty damn close.  Today we’re taking a look at Max Factory’s 1/8th scale Yuki Nagato Extravaganza Ver. PVC from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Girls who leap through space find unlimited darkness

Wave appears to be establishing themselves as the new Kotobukiya: the place to go for solid, well done figures that, while not the most technically superior, are easy on the wallet.  They are responsible for a majority of the figures I’m excited about this week so come on in and read about them.  I’m also trying out a new section where I complain about crappy PVCs!  Oh, Internets, what fun we’ll have now.

Kotobukiya 1/7 Zange PVC: Kannagi

Ever have a “roller coaster purchase”?  A purchase that you start off exited about, then get bummed about when you first see the product, but finally discover something new about it and end up happy regardless?  That’s pretty much what happened to me with this figure.  Today we’re taking a look at Kotobukiya’s 1/7th scale Zange PVC from Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens.

I guess Tsukasa won the Sister Wars

Here’s this week’s batch of figures and they’re all big names from big franchises.  I’d consider that an achievement.  Not just because there are no exclusives in this bunch, but because I tend to gravitate towards the more perculiar figures.  So this is a bit of a rarity given my tendencies, but I can’t help it.  When four companies release amazing figures at the same time, all I can do is share with you the figures I’m excited about.
