This last week was looking pretty grim when it came to new figure announcements but along came this little gem which completely changed an otherwise boring week for the better.  Baring any unforeseen announcements between Thursday night (when I wrote this post) and Friday morning (when I posted this post) Seena remains my sole highlight from this last week.  But really, with a figure this good I don’t think I need any more than this.

I bought Rise for a couple of reasons: great coloring, good detailing, a pose that looked interesting, and the best face for the character that was on the market.  Some of those reasons still hold true while others I feel I was trying to falsely project on to the figure.  Today we’re talking a look at Alter’s 1/8th scale ‘Swimsuit Ver.’ Rise Kujikawa PVC from Persona 4.

Ever have one of those weeks you wish you could just forget?  I had one this week.  I’d rather not get into everything but just know that I’m fine and that things are better now than they were at the beginning of the week.  I’m just letting you all know this much so that when I say “no update today” it’s because I haven’t had the time to focus my mind much on the site or anything else.

On the plus side there weren’t any big announcements this week so it’s not like there was going to be a lot to talk about.  There was this FREEing Mio figure that I would have been all over if not for the fact that the FREEing Lucky Star line completely soured me to the company.  Mio’s 1/8th scale so the coloring might turn out better than the Lucky Star line, but for nearly 90 bucks I’m waiting to see some broader pics from the community so I know for damn sure exactly how she’ll turn out.

Looking at the calendar I’d say I’m a little late with this concept but I couldn’t find the time this weekend to do a full review so I decided to this instead.  The rules were simple: 1) The figure had to be released in 2009 (so all those GSC and Alter figures that got pushed back didn’t make the cut) and 2) I actually had to own the figure.  Despite those simple rules this ended up being quite the task since so many fantastic figures were released in 2009.  On top of that I decided to be really controversial and rank these 15 beauties.  Why 15?  Because I honestly couldn’t whittle the list down further than that.

I hate running a blog sometimes.  I updated a couple of plugins before sitting down to write this post and the site got all screwy.  I uninstalled said plugins to revert back to an older version only to be told that the plugin was “not compatible” with the version of WordPress I was using.  Funny, no problems five minutes prior.  Anyway I then spent several hours reading and going though the process to back up the site so I could upgrade WordPress (to the new and shinny 2.9 series) to hopefully fix the problem.  Which, of course, it didn’t.  As it turns out the two plugins in question decided to change their default settings.  That was the problem; no upgrade was needed.  I’m sure if I were better at this I would’ve troubleshot the problem before spending the time to upgrade.   Here are the figures I’m excited about this week.
