“Saber Lily came in,” my local anime store owner messaged me. “You had better not be joking,” my reply was. Luckily for him he wasn’t! Not only was Saber Lily waiting for me on Friday when I walked into the store, but Uplark’s Nia, GSC’s Nendoroid Saber Lily, and three new Lucky Star “summer version” figma’s were as well. Still waiting on Kagamin and then the summer figma harem will be complete. :3

Akiha was a bit of an spontaneous purchase on my part because I had never seen Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo and I didn’t care enough to actually go watch it. I still haven’t seen it and I still don’t care enough to go watch it, but Akiha is a damn nice figure regardless. I started doing these Friday posts because there were so many good figures coming out and I wanted to talk about the ones I was excited about and not wait months and months until I actually got the figure. It’s been fun for the most part, but there have certainly been dry spells like this week where only one figure comes down the pipe that I feel is worth mentioning…and even then I keep wavering on her. Fear not though for I still have something (hopefully) fun planned!

I opted to go straight to the source for Asuka and use HLJ since my usual venue didn’t look like they we’re getting her in. Of course karma, doing what it does, saw to it that my usual venue put her up the next week, but by that point it was easier to stay with HLJ even though I’d have to pay shipping. The unexpected result? Me getting to do a review while the figure is still fresh and not months old! When I first started covering “upcoming” figures and noticed all the exclusives coming down the pipe I absolutely hated it. I thought they were a cheap, gimmicky way to artificially create interest for a figure and get an extra 20-30 bucks out of it at the same time. Slowly, begrudgingly I began appreciating exclusives for their increased quality and more imaginative compositions, and even found myself ordering a couple despite my initial resolve.
