Multimedia modeling- Cornelia, Acguy hat ,the super secret diorama and an arcade stick?

Yeah past few weeks have been pretty rough but spring break is just around the corner and the work load has lightened a bit. I really want to get Cornelia done during spring break but with all the friends coming back to visit I’m sure to spend even less time in my workshop than before. I’ve also gotten some pretty good progress done on the tree since the last time I posted here’s where it’s at currently.

yeah isn’t that a beauty. I’m going to have to add more twigs and branches but right now it’s shaping up pretty nicely I say. The build up of the tree is as follows.

First I used some spackle to build up the body of the tree, normally I’d use polyester putty for this but I only have a 120g tube of mori mori and it’s rather expensive stuff so I used spackle for the internals.

after I sanded the spackle down a bit I applied a coat of mori mori to make a shell around the spackle. This should prevent the tree from cracking and breaking in half when handled roughly. The mori mori also gives me a better surface to sand so the actual surface will look nicer than spackle. You basically putty, sand and repeat until you get where you want to go.

with the left overs from each layer I went ahead and mixed a little extra mori mori and some Mr. Level thinner in with the putty to make little oval globs. These will eventually be those snow bunnies you see being made in anime all the time. I made 3 just incase I messed up on one of them.

Since there were 3 of them I was able to outline the 3 steps to making them. From left to right I have the basic raw one where I only rounded out the sharp edges, the middle is where I used my hobby knife and started to shave away and make a round surface and the one on the right I’ve already sanded.

Now as for Haruhi’s hat I’m working out the seams in the head. Since it’s an older kit a lot of the seams are in awkward places. The top of the head was basically 2 peaces so the seam runs right across the middle. I’m working on this but between all the sanding and priming required I usually do this along side Cornelia.

here’s the pieces of cornelia after the first priming session. I was able to spot some minor mold lines along the boot and coat but the majority of the kit is pristine.

I only had to do 2 coats of primer for most of the other parts, but the legs seem to be the worst of it. This is why I think I can get her done by next week.

Now this isn’t actually model related but I figured you guys might enjoy it anyway. My friend recently got the Madcatz Street Fighter IV fight stick(the white one not the TE) and he wanted some new art to go into it since he’s putting in sanwa buttons and a Seimitsu JLF to replace the stock components. So I wiped this up for him last week.

I basically just took the vector solwyvern did of one of the A’s dvd covers and put it on a black background with some lightning thrown around since he wanted something simple. Originally there was a city scape in the background but that didn’t turn out as expected. That’s the mockup of what the art would look like on the stick with the white parts being the buttons,the joystick and the control panel. After getting my creative juices flowing and settling for such a simple design I went and made a stick of my own.

I took the cover art of the StrikerS comic that originally ran in Megami Magazine and vectored it out.(I believe this perticular one was the August 2007 issue.) I then took away the line art that I created from the vector after I colored it.This it self looks pretty cool on any background but I was toying around with the “White Devil” idea and how to express it. Sure she dresses in white but that doesn’t mean anything, with out the line art she just melts into the white. Kind of like how Cheshire Cat just randomly appears from solid colored objects. The whole white background breaking up and floating away into stars bit came to me while I was listening to Paradise Lost for some reason.
