Upgrade complete but…
So I was lying when I said you wouldn’t notice a difference after we did the upgrade. I should have read the the upgrade instructions better because apparently some themes are incompatible with WordPress 2.7 and it just so happens that the one we were using was one of them. So I picked a new theme one the quick (the default theme was making me sick). Think of it as temporary while we continue working out the kinks.
We also “lost” our old tags. I put “lost” quotes becase we had been using a plug-in to do tags and WordPress 2.7 has that functionality built in. I’m hoping there is a way to translate.
Love the new interface though,

You should be able to write a query to translate the data from one formatting to the new one. It may not be all that different, however it could, I’m not sure of 2.2’s database. My 2.7 database has the tags in:
wp_terms
–term_id -> Big integer, 20 char
–name -> The display name, 200 char
–slug -> the-url-name, 200 char
–group -> no idea, don’t use it yet, Big Integer, 20 char
Where are your tags stored in 2.2?
See that’s the thing, tagging was not a native option for WordPress 2.2 so I had to install the “Simple Tagging” plugin to make it work for us. Simple Tagging stopped updating with WordPress 2.5 (when I think Tags were incorporated into the WordPress engine itself).
I tried turning on the plugin so I could at least figure out what posts were tagged what, but that dorked things up so I had to disable.
It’s not so bad updating things the manual way. I just finished doing everything for the PVC galleries.
Why not just look in the datatbase itself for them? Then write some simple SQL to move them to the location Wordpress 2.7 wants.
Or maybe it’s not such a simple query, but someone on the word press forums may be able to help?
I did try looking at the backup SQL file I made but it was mostly Klingon to me. I could find the tags but couldn’t figure out how they were linked to each post. That and I really don’t know how to write SQL.
Good idea on the asking around the forums though.
Really sad to hear that things didn’t go too well when updating, if you have any questions or need help – feel free to email me. =)
Happy easter to you, by the way.
Thanks for the offer!
And, it’s Easter today? Completely flew by me, haha.
I thought easter was next week…if it’s today then I totally started making those Shugo eggs a week late…
Easter is next weekend. Good Friday is this coming Friday.
Just thought I’d say it since I’m not going to be around next week.
