Kanon: Makoto Sawatari 1/8th PVC by Max Factory
Kanon was a show that was quite like any other and a times it was very difficult for me to watch. It had everything going for it: cute girls, fun characters, and was extremely well animated. But at the same time, it’s bitter-sweet view on life was difficult to accept. It wasn’t until recently when balalaika_ism explained to me that it was about finding beauty during even the most painful times that the show took on a whole new meaning. So, without getting into spoilers, Makoto has become one of my favorite characters and I’m glad I caved and bought this figure from Max Factory.
The Hobby Requiem
Released in Japan from Max Factory in March of 2008, it came out stateside the following April and it sold out pretty quickly. I’ve occasionally seen a few pop up on eBay, and she’ll probably be available at the cons throughout the summer, but I’d expect high mark-ups.
I think that like Makoto here more than I do Ayu. It’s probably mostly due to the stark differences in the character designs (Ayu’s heavy overcoat doesn’t leave a lot of room for details), but at the same time the face on Makoto is a lot nicer.
So that’s it for today. I’m pretty tired since we’ve started updating the site more often: bringing you new reviews and incorporating a third figure post over the week. So sorry if I kept this one pretty short, but I did want to give you all a little something to enjoy over the weekend.

I’ve wanted this figure since I first saw it. I’ve yet to see it for sale anywhere, at a reasonable price that is. She’s just too cute.
I can’t believe you didn’t do an upskirt shot! You got soo close, attractively close.

I think this was during my “I’m too good for up-skirts” phase.
I’ve since come to my senses.
Ah good. I skipped right over that phase. Due to buying a castoffable Horo with no clothes on underneith. So I went straight to nude shots haha
I also made the mistake of telling an aunt and a 10 year old cousin about the site I help run, so I wanted to try and keep things “family friendly”.
They promptly forgot about the site, though my cousin “loves my room”. XD
I haven’t managed to make that mistake yet. I did once before with a previous iteration of a site I ran. But it didn’t contain scaled models of beautiful girls with sometimes questionable poses or camera angles…
I often wonder what they would say, and often want to link them just to see. Maybe one day I’ll give in.
My parents once inquired, upon noticing the primarily female tend in my figure collection, if I was watching “shows for girls”.
I didn’t know what was worse: try to explain to them that most of those shows are actually aimed at guys or to just lie and say ‘yes’.
Haha, I’m not sure what I would have said either.
Perhaps… who wants to look at a bunch of men?
If I were witty like that then I probably would have.
Ahhh even though I own her now, I still love looking at photos of her. So pretty.
Your right about high mark up. I paid £70 for her, including shipping. Most I’ve ever paid for a figure, and I was damn desperate for her, no way I’d pay £70 normally for a 1/8th lol…
