Polyvinyl Crush

It was definitely one of those do-nothing weekends for me.  The type of weekend where you just feel like dorking all around the place without accomplishing much.  Still, I wanted to get some kind of review done so I opted for one that was charming and all around a good figure instead of one which redefines how figures should be made.  So today we’re talking a look at Kotobukiya’s 1/7th scale ‘Swimsuit Ver.’ Kagura from Azumanga Daioh.  Ah!

Title says it all.  It was another busy weekend for me (you would think getting prepared to go back to school for the first time in 4 years would be easier) so I didn’t have the time to get a good review in order.  This is also why I was so late in responding to all your comments from last Friday; it’s not that I didn’t want to but I just couldn’t find the time.  So, instead of my normal review, please enjoy my latest compilation haul.  Thirteen figures from all over the spectrum; name your moe and there is a good chance it’s represented in today’s haul.

I don’t know why it is but I felt like doing a second Kotobukiya sculpt after the one a couple weeks ago.  It might have a little to do with the fact that I seem to have a bit of a backlog  of un-reviewed Kotobukiya sculpts.  Doing two in a row is alright though, especially when the second one is much more well done.  Today we’re taking a look at Kotobukiya’s 1/8th Sakaki-san PVC figure from Azumanga Daioh.  Ah!

Ah, I love it when a new haul comes in.  Although I guess technically these figures shouldn’t be considered part of a single haul since they came in over the course of a couple weeks and from various sources, but I’m making them part of the same haul.  Yes, I have that power.

Figure makers were out in full force this week with Kotobukiya in particular representing the industry.  Not only did they put out announcements for plethora of pleasing PVCs, but they also officially announced one of the greatest figures in recent memory that I’ve seen from them.  Of course, with Kotobukiya, it’s their game to lose.

Wasn’t here last week so I wanted to go a bit further back to cover some material that I missed.  It doesn’t look like I’m alone in that since Kotobukiya too went “a bit further back” and dug up the idea to do Azumanga Daioh! figures after the franchise had long since finished.  I don’t know how this will ultimately play out for them, but I for one completely support more Azumanga love and also formally request that Kotobukiya make a Lina Inverse figure.
