There wasn’t much to talk about this week with new figures; I bought Shoujo S and managed to get on the second order for Azusa but that was pretty much it. So I was a little worried about the content of today’s post since there wasn’t much to talk about. Thankfully my store had a shipment of new figures come and one of them - *SHOCK* - I regret getting! I had a nice little treat waiting for me at my local store when I stopped by earlier in the week. And by little I really mean HUGE. Looks like whatever production issues that seemed to universally and negatively impact figure manufactures late last year has been resolved because the floodgates of figure goodness were opened wide this week.

Figure makers were out in full force this week with Kotobukiya in particular representing the industry. Not only did they put out announcements for plethora of pleasing PVCs, but they also officially announced one of the greatest figures in recent memory that I’ve seen from them. Of course, with Kotobukiya, it’s their game to lose.

Akiha was a bit of an spontaneous purchase on my part because I had never seen Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo and I didn’t care enough to actually go watch it. I still haven’t seen it and I still don’t care enough to go watch it, but Akiha is a damn nice figure regardless. Today we’re taking a look at Good Smile Company’s 1/8th scale Akiha Shishidou PVC from Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo.

When I first started covering “upcoming” figures and noticed all the exclusives coming down the pipe I absolutely hated it. I thought they were a cheap, gimmicky way to artificially create interest for a figure and get an extra 20-30 bucks out of it at the same time. Slowly, begrudgingly I began appreciating exclusives for their increased quality and more imaginative compositions, and even found myself ordering a couple despite my initial resolve. Sorry that there wasn’t a figure review this week; I just got so caught up in the Aion beta that I pretty much decided to blow the review off in favor of more gaming.
