Kotobukiya wins the Great Rebuild of Evangelion Figure Race

Not that it comes as any great shock as Alter has been silent for so long on continuing their Rebuild of Evangelion line, but Kotobukiya officially wins the Great RoE Figure Race to get all three Eva pilots and Misato out on the market.  Not that either figure maker knew they were in the Great RoE Figure Race.  Not that anyone knew there was a Great RoE Figure Race.  I made it up.  Just now.  For this post.  Just goes to show how bummed I am that Alter seems to have forgotten their line.  Anyway here are the figures I’m excited about this illustrious week.

Happy New Year / Resting

No figure review today due to the recent holidays, end of the year festivities, and just wanting to chill out.  I’m also going to be turning in all my applications this week and that has been on my mind as well.  There’s also a strong possibility of no Friday post either due to the (currently unforeseen) side effects of exuberant celebrations of ringing in the New Year the night prior.

Rico’s Christmas Wishlist (2009)

Taking the cue from Aka’s recent wishlist I thought it would be fun for me to try my hand at it as well.  I thought it would be something fun for the Christmas week as well as easy to write considering I spent the better part of yesterday digging my car out of two feet of snow.  Following what Aka did with his  I’m also trying to make a true wishlist; meaning these are figures I wish I had but are either hard to obtain, exorbitantly expensive, and/or don’t actually exist but I would like to see made.  Santa Yuki is one of them.  :3

Kotobukiya Asuka Langley Shikinami PVC: Rebuild Of Evangelion

I opted to go straight to the source for Asuka and use HLJ since my usual venue didn’t look like they we’re getting her in.  Of course karma, doing what it does, saw to it that my usual venue put her up the next week, but by that point it was easier to stay with HLJ even though I’d have to pay shipping.  The unexpected result?  Me getting to do a review while the figure is still fresh and not months old!  Today we’re taking a look at Kotobukiya’s 1/6th scale Asuka Langley Shikinami PVC from Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance.

Evangelion: Misato Katsuragi 1/6th PVC by Kotobukiya

I know what you’re thinking: “Rico is doing another post about Evangelion? Oh boy, that’s original.” You’ll probably be so enraged by the bandwidth you’ve wasted loading this page that you will make your frustrations known in the comments section. But, before you commit your thoughts to bytes, notice that this post is neither about Rei nor Asuka! This Evangelion post features one of the strongest, classiest, and sexiest women not only from the series, but maybe from anime in general. Kotobukiya is in top form again and this time brings us Misato Katsuragi from Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone.

Evangelion: Rei Ayanami 1/6th PVC by Kotobukiya

I was ecstatic when the announcement came out that new Evangelion movies were being made. Not just because one of my all-time favorite series was being re-made with modern animation techniques, but also because of the flood of merchandise that was sure to follow. Honestly though, we’ve pretty much seen a constant flood of Eva merchandise the last thirteen years, but at least now I have justification (i.e. excuse) for continuing to buy it!

I believe this was one of the first figures to be released specifically for the first movie, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone, so it’s still pretty easy to find. A little more pricey than figures from Kotobukiya tend to run but well worth the extra cost.
